Knipe Hall Wedding // Penrith Wedding Photographer
Heyyyy, I’m a sucker for weddings in the Lake District, and Knipe Hall never disappoints. This is my third wedding at Knipe Hall and I absolutely love it here, every wedding is so different, and yet always beautiful and fun!
Tanya and Dan got married at Knipe Hall in June this year, and what an amazing day it was! From start to finish these guys had a beautiful and relaxed day, and ended it with Prosecco Pong (The beer was drank) and a gorgeous walk out for sunset pictures.
I’ve asked Tanya and Dan here for some input on how they went about making their amazing day happen, along with some tips for future couples.
What made you choose Knipe Hall as your wedding venue?
Although we don’t live in Cumbria, we have family in the Wirral, Manchester and Newcastle so it only seemed fair to meet in the middle. We looked at a few places in the Lake District, but we fell in love with Knipe Hall before we even stepped out of the car. The setting was perfect for our rustic, English- country inspired theme and the views across the valley were breathtaking.
One of things we were looking for when choosing a venue were friendly staff that we could trust to help the day run smoothly. The team at Knipe Hall were extremely supportive throughout the planning process and took care of everything on the day. All that was left for us to do was enjoy!
We knew we wanted a summer wedding and originally looked at August/September time. However it was tricky matching the Cumbrian registrar’s availability to hold the ceremony on the same dates as the venue, so we looked at June which wasn’t as busy. We did think about changing the time of the ceremony to 3pm, but looking I’m so glad we didn’t as a 1pm ceremony made wait a lot more bearable!
The Wedding Day
As both of us aren’t keen on being the centre of attention, we always wanted a rustic, casual feel to the day. For colour, we decided to go for peach as it’s quite a summery colour and it really stood out in the pictures. We also had a travel theme for our table plan of all the places we’d visited together, so I think it was just a collaboration of everything we love really, but it seemed to merge together quite well in the end.
It’s so difficult to pinpoint a favourite part of the wedding, as the whole day was amazing!
We’d say our favourite part was probably the time we spent together as a couple. After the ceremony, we went off to take some couple shots in the countryside. It was a perfect opportunity to take some time out and let everything sink in.
We really got chance to talk and spend time with each other before the craziness of the day continued. Daz took us out again at sunset to make use of the amazing setting and again it was lovely to share some time with each other and reflect on the day. Some of our friends said they didn’t see enough of each other on their wedding day as they were too busy catching up with friends and family, but I think this was a great way to make a bit of time for each other too.
We absolutely loved our photographer who seemed to be in all the right places at the right times! Most of our pictures were really natural, rather than staged, which allowed Daz to really capture the emotion and spirit of the day.
He was so friendly; it was just like he was one of our guests, but with a camera! Daz was also a huge hit with our friends and family. He made everyone feel really comfortable and relaxed about having pictures taken, so no awkward poses! I would definitely recommend meeting your photographer beforehand or even just calling to have a chat. We did an engagement shoot with Daz so we really got a feel for his photography style and personality, he really put us at ease leading up to the big day.
Tips for future couples
Don’t sweat the small stuff! The day before the wedding we were setting everything up and I remember being worried about the favours and confetti. But on the day, even though there were a couple of blips, it didn’t take away from the experience at all and everything just seemed to run smoothly. Your bridal party and the staff are there to help too and they’ll be thinking about the things you’ve forgotten so just relax and enjoy the day!
